Overview

This is a public meeting of the GNSO Consumer Trust, Consumer Choice, and Competition Drafting Team (CCTC-DT)

The Consumer Metrics Working Group produced a draft Advice Letter defining Consumer, Consumer Trust, Consumer Choice, & Competition at the request of the ICANN Board Resolution (2010.12.10.30) to Supporting Organizations (SOs) and Advisory Committees (ACs).

The Working Group began regular meetings after the Singapore meeting in June 2011. Working Group members drafted a charter for consideration by any and all community groups form whom the board solicited advice. The Charter was approved by the GNSO on 7 September 2011 and is available here. In addition to its bi-weekly conference calls, the working group held public discussion sessions at the Singapore and Dakar meetings, including presentations of preliminary results.

This initial draft of advice was approved by the Working Group on 22 February 2012 and forwarded to ICANN staff to post for public comment. The Draft Advice Letter contains the process by which the Working Group defined the key terms and formulated the metrics per each definition including the source and proposed three year targets.

The session in Costa Rica intends to brief the community on the draft advice to compliment the public comment period. Given the quantity and complexity of the proposed definitions and their respective metrics, it is strongly recommended that community members who plan to attend this session review the draft advice letter. The latest version can be found on the public comment web page. http://www.icann.org/en/news/public-comment/cctc-draft-advice-letter-23feb12-en.htm
